Biography:
Sheilla obtained her bachelor’s in nursing from the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines and her master’s in nursing education from the University of Phoenix. She has more than 20 years of bedside clinical nursing experience and has served in the nurse corps of the United States Army Reserve. Sheilla joined the Bayview Infection Control Team in September 2018.

Sheilla has a regional and national reputation for excellence in clinical care and process improvement. She has presented oral and written posters at multiple national meetings and was the recipient of the 2017 Clinical Practice Award from the Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses for outstanding professional achievement and contributions as a medical-surgical registered nurse. She was also one of the recipients of the 2018 Excellence in Nursing (educator) award from Baltimore magazine for her work with the Community College of Baltimore County and her extraordinary contribution to health care.

Sheilla is a strong supporter and advocate for excellence in care. She believes in staff engagement and participation of frontline staff in process improvement. She co-chairs the hospital’s Hand Hygiene Committee and is a current scholar at the Armstrong Institute Safety and Quality Leadership Academy.
